Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 7: Two artists of Natrang viz Rahul Singh and Aarushi Thakur brought laurels for the state of Jammu & Kashmir by making it to the prestigious Young Theatre Directors Workshop organised by National School of Drama, New Delhi. The workshop was held for a period of Twenty days at Surajkund (Haryana) popularly known as India's International destination of arts and crafts. The most noteworthy accomplishment of these two talented Natrang artists was that they made it to the top selected twenty participants from amongst thousands of aspirants of this young theatre directors workshop of National School of Drama. During the workshop, they had the occasion to learn the art of theatre direction under six Internationally acclaimed theatre directors of India out of whom four viz Mohan Maharishi, Anuradha Kapoor, Tripurai Sharma and Wamen Kandere have served as Directors of National School of Drama. Other directors who taught them direction included M.K. Raina,and Bansi Kaul. In this residential theatre training programme, the participants were shown over twenty established theatre productions of different concepts, styles, approaches and forms directed by these accomplished directors and were prompted to interpret in through their own vision and conceptions. Rahul Singh who has been associated with Natrang since last eight years as an actor has many productions to his credit as lead roles including 'Ghumayee', 'Bawa Jitto', 'Kahani Hamari', 'Jai Bawa Gopi Naath', 'Choona Hai Aasmaan', 'Parvaaz', 'Rangla Jammu' 'Mind Games' 'App Hamare Hain Kaun', 'Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop kahan Hai'and 'Gulab Gaatha'. Recently he has started venturing direction and has successfully directed 'Bahut Bada Sawal' written by Mohan Rakesh, 'Dard Apna Apana' by N.D. Jamwal, 'Soach', and 'Pahli Saans Se Pahle'. |
