In Banihal there are two water filtration plants one is in Tether village and another is in Doligam village which also requires maintenance. The rest of the population is using and drinking water without filtration which is also one of the causes of different diseases in this area. Reports from Chamalwas area of Banihal said that someone saw Carcass of animals in a nullah were from the water has tapped by the department for the reservoir tanks. Locals alleged that from past one week these dead animals are still lying in the nullah. Locals of Chamalwas have appealed to the department to clean the water reservoirs. Local villagers of Banihal and Ramban said that especially during the rains the silted water is supplied which is a great threat to the health of the people. When contacted regarding the filtration of water in these areas, an officer of the department said that they had demanded the filtration plants with every new scheme. He said that it is expected that with the new schemes of PHE, water filtration plants will be also sanctioned in future. |
