Calm down: PDP to BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 7: The PDP leadership has told the BJP to not flare up the issue of National Institute of Technology Srinagar. The PDP has communicated that both the parties should attempt to cool down the tempers. Sources said the senior leadership of the PDP on the directions of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has communicated to the top leadership of the BJP in New Delhi that NIT incident should not be played up. It has said all efforts should be made to stop its politicisation and no attempt should be made to hold protests in other parts of the country. "The incident is very sensitive. We also want safety of the students but if the BJP tries to portray all Kashmiris are anti-national then it will have repercursions in the Valley and will make our situation untenable. So there is very possibility that this new Government will face the problem which was faced by Mufti Sayeed on the issue of release of Masarat Alam,' said a senior BJP leader. It's on this communication that the top BJP leadership has told the State unit that while protests can be held but their tone and tenor should not be anti-Kashmiri and also that it should not try to flare up the things. The BJP State unit had apparently gone by the advisory of the party high command and it’s for this reason that it succeeded in foiling the attempt for Jammu bandh also of any incident of clash between locals and Kashmiri. The situation is fraught with dangerous consequences if any slight provocation is made. It could strain the alliance and the Government may not be effective as it will be bogged down by this controversy. It has happened last time when beef bandh and then death of the truck driver brought bad name to the alliance. The alliance has been re-stitched after lot of delibearations and it should be allowed to take off smoothly than put brakes on it," said a senior PDP leader |
