Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 7: The irresponsible and childish "mild-lathicharge" statement of Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh is likely to prove very "heavy" for him because BJP high-command has taken very serious note of the "shameless" utterance of leader -who is party's face of coalition Government headed by PDP. The high-command has asked Dr Singh to clear his position why he has defended J&K police, which had unleashed unprovoked lathi-charge and brutality on the students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday evening.
Credible sources in the BJP said that Dr Nirmal Singh's brazen attempt to defend atrocities of J&K Police has created embarrassment for BJP in other parts of the country. Opposition parties, especially Congress is exploiting Dr Singh's childish statement in which he had defended J&K Police atrocities on nationalist students of NIT by stating that police has used "mild lathi-charge" to prevent some students from going outside the NIT campus.
Ironically over 130 students, all outsiders, belong to different States of the country, were injured, a dozen of them critically, in the police brutality but Deputy Chief Minister had termed the action as "mild" to defend the police. What is more ironically, fear stricken students had already sounded Dr Singh that police was ruthlessly beating students but still he termed police action as "mild".
BJP high command is reportedly extremely annoyed with Dr Singh's attitude in taking serious matter so casually. "Either Dr Nirmal Singh is incapable to get information about developments in the State or he wants to be in the good book of Kashmiri leadership to save his chair", sources said.
Parents of some NIT students have also informed BJP high command about attitude of Dr Nirmal Singh in dealing the crises. Worried over safety of their wards studying in parents today already sought direct intervention of Centre to save the situation from further worsening.
Parents had announced on Wednesday to approach BJP high command to take action against Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh for terming police brutality as mild-lathicharge for the lust of power.
