To ensure 'zero corruption', Govt to form special teams | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 7: In an effort to ensure zero corruption in the State, the Government has decided to form special teams of honest officers to keep a tab on "corrupt practices" in various departments. One of the senior Cabinet Ministers in the Government wishing anonymity told Early Times that the Government would not tolerate corruption at any cost. "Government will soon form teams of honest officers, which will work under Chief Minister's Secretariat, to keep a tab on the work in all departments," the Minister said. The move comes days after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti stated that giving clean governance to the people of the State shall remain a focus and there can be no scope for corruption at any level. The Minister added that if any officer is found taking bribe, Government will act tough. "We have communicated to all the head of departments that the Government would not tolerate corruption at any cost," the Minister said. He said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had told all the officers that Government would not tolerate corruption, whether it is of any Minister, MLA, officer or any junior officer working in the field. Meanwhile sources informed that the Government will soon develop an information network under Vigilance Department and through this network, it will search corruption in departments and if any officer is found taking bribe, Government will sack him or her from the job besides taking strict action in such cases. Sources said that all the HoDs have also been asked by the Chief Minister to ensure that there was zero corruption in their departments and it was their responsibility that the works were done in their departments with full honesty. Sources said that Chief Minister has said the officers that if they need resources and there was need to change the system, Government would provide all such things, but corruption would not be tolerated. Sources said that the Chief Minister has also taken serious note of the pending complaints with regard to the corruption and has directed the concerned agencies to take immediate action in this regard. "Action would be taken soon against those officials who have found guilty in the corruption cases," one of the officials of the Government said. It is to mention here that Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on day one of her taking over the reins of the Government, held an introductory meeting with all Administrative Secretaries and stated that her Government shall remain committed to provide a transparent, accountable and responsive administration which works for the betterment and welfare of the common man. "An important step in this regard will be to simplify the procedures and processes through e-governance. Giving clean governance to the people of the State shall remain my focus and there can be no scope for corruption at any level," CM had said and added that honesty and sincerity should percolate in the entire administrative structure from HoDs to the lowest level functionaries in the Government. |
