Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Apr 7: The father of an Echo driver, who was killed in a road accident near Machipal in Drabshala area falling under the jurisdiction of police station, Kishtwar, has accused police of biased investigation and termed his son's death as a planned murder.
He has demanded a high-level probe into the incident. Police sources said one Mushtaq Ahmed Gujjar of Batol, Gundoh, today approached SSP, Kishtwar, and alleged that though his son namely Bagh Hussain was said to have died in a road accident at Machipal Drabshala on March 12, 2016, it was actually a murder allegedly executed by his three accomplices, hailing from Qarra and Chabba areas of Gundoh. He demanded registration of a murder case against them while raising doubts on police investigation.
Kishtwar police on March 12, 2016 received an information that one Echo car bearing registration No JKO6- 8762 had met with an accident at Machhipal, 3.5 km from Thathri towards Gundoh, and fallen into a nullah, resulting in the death of Bagh Hussain and injuries to Sajjad Hussain, son of Mohammad Amin of Qarra. Accordingly FIR No 57 under sections 279, 337 and 304-A was registered at Police Station, Kishtwar.
During the course of preliminary investigation at spot, it came to fore that one Rashid Hussain, son of Mohammad Shafi, was also travelling in the Echo car when the incident took place. During his sustained questioning, it was found that all the three persons were drunk.
The father of the deceased while refuting the claims of the injured persons claimed that his son never consumed alcohol and alleged that he was murdered in a planned manner. He suspected that his son could have been forced by them to take liquor as part of their alleged plan to eliminate him.
After hearing him, SSP Sandeep Wazir assured him of free and fair probe and ordered an inquiry into the case by Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom.
When contacted, the SSP said the investigation of case had been handed over to the additional SP, Kishtwar. In reply to a query, the SSP said police had done all legal formalities. If family members demanded, police could conduct a fresh autopsy on the body, he added.
