Tight security in Jammu, Katra as Navratras begin today | | | Jammu, Apr 7: Tight security has been placed in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir and Katra town, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, especially around temples as week-long Navratras begin tomorrow. Security has been beefed up here in view of Navratras, while additional check points have also been raised at all sensitive locations. All vehicles, particularly during night time, are being frisked at the check points. The 'City of Temples', donning a festive look, is all geared up for the holy days. Bahu Fort Temple, commonly known as 'Bawe Wali Mata,' is illuminated with colourful lights and decorated with buntings and flowers. The shopkeepers have also started decorating their establishments to welcome the devotees. Reports from Katra said the town is witnessing an unprecedented rush of pilgrims from different parts of the country. Katra is also being manned by local police and para military troops for tomorrow's occasion. As per sources, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine (Bhawan) is also beautifully decorated with special flowers. Close circuit cameras have been installed in Katra town and en route Bhawan are also acting as watch dogs and keeping vigil on suspicious elements, a police official here said. |
