Kashmiri woman BJP leader aims high | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 5: A woman BJP leader is trying her best to intimidate the party high command to rehabilitate her as MLC or as the Chairman of any board, sources told Early Times on Thursday. They said the woman leader was recently elevated to a prestigious party post but she is believed to be not content with just holding a party post and is aiming high. "She wants BJP to pay her back for abandoning her party and joining hands with the saffron party," sources added. They revealed the woman leader recently met a top party leader and put forth her demand. She is understood to have told the top BJP leader that she was selected as an Assistant Professor in one of the prestigious universities but she gave up the job offer to serve the party. The leader, according to the sources, informed the lady that he cannot be of any help to her as the party is committed to first rehabilitate the leaders who have been serving the BJP for a longtime. "When the woman leader abandoned her party she was assured that she would be rehabilitated and would be given a chance to secure her future but after the BJP joined hands with PDP to form the government it left its pre-poll allies and many newcomers in lurch," sources added. They said the woman BJP leader has asked the top leaders in Jammu and Kashmir to put a word with the party high command so that her sacrifice to abandon her party and ideology is justified. "The Kashmir unit of BJP has been in disarray for a longtime and Kashmir based leaders are trying to establish their supremacy over each other," sources added. They said, "The woman BJP leader is trying to project herself as the face of the BJP in Kashmir and is trying to strike a deal with the party high command to get herself accommodated. The woman leader is believed to have told the party high command that it needs to empower her to strike a chord with the people of Kashmir and it needs leader who is a Kashmiri and is well versed with the Valley." They said many BJP candidates from Kashmir who contested the 2014 assembly elections unsuccessfully had made a beeline in New Delhi to seek some favours but had to return empty handed. "Barring a few leaders, many BJP loyalists who had appeared on the political arena of Kashmir have deserted the party and are doing other jobs to make their ends meet. Army of BJP leaders and others who had appeared on the scene have disappeared," sources added. They said the woman BJP leader has created a notion that she is the only available option for the BJP in Kashmir and if party fails to give her some position it can spell doom for the party. |
