Early Times Report
Jammu, May 5: Parents of students of City Middle School for Girls, Kishtwar, have threatened to stop sending their daughters to the school in case the government goes ahead with its proposal of merging their school with City Middle School for Boys, Kishtwar, asking it to drop the proposal without any delay. As per the details available with Early Times, there are about 68 girls in the City Middle school for Girls and the education department has intimated the school management that the institution would be merged with the nearby City Middle School for Boys. After parents came to know about it, they took strong exception to the proposed government move. The parents have conveyed to the school management that in case the proposal is not dropped, they will be left with no option other than restricting their daughters from going to the school. The school management told the parents that though they had no authority to change the government decision, their concern would be brought to the notice of senior officials of the department as well as to the notice of district administration. While talking to Early Times, some parents said they were not ready to send their daughters to the boys' school and added that the decision of the government was 'unreasonable' because the girls' school had a good number of students as compared to other schools, located in and around Kishtwar city, which had less than 20 students. They claimed to have apprised the district administration of their decision through the Kishtwar tehsildar. They also warned to hold protests in case the government did not withdraw its proposed move. |
