India's stand on AP must not be weakened: Agnihotri | RSS contradicts RSS | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 8: An RSS "think-tank" and Vice-Chancellor of Central University Himachal Pradesh Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, who was here in Jammu the other day, rightly claimed that Arunachal Pradesh was an integral part of India and that we must not weaken the Indian stand on this north-eastern state. Agnihotri, who is also working president of Indo-Tibet Coordination Committee, in addition, asked the Government of India to clear its stand on Tibet clear. China considers Arunachal Pradesh a disputed territory and it has also annexed Buddhist Tibet. The stand Agnihotri took on Arunachal Pradesh was different from that of another ideologue and think-tank of RSS Rakesh Singh, who appears in the TV debates on almost all issues almost every day. On February 22, 2016, Sinha had not only said that Arunachal Pradesh couldn't be treated like other states of the Union but also expressed similar view on the political status of J&K and Manipur. "J&K, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh can't be treated like other states of the Union. It would be politically imprudent if these states are treated like other states of the Union," he had said. Significantly, Sinha made this outrageous statement in the presence of a BJP national spokesperson, who didn't contest the RSS' ideologue, thus suggesting that the RSS and the BJP were on the same side as far as their attitude towards J&K, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh was concerned. That Agnihotri and Sinha took diametrically opposite stands on the political status of Arunachal Pradesh vis-à-vis India only suggests that the so-called nationalist, cultural and pro-Hindutva RSS is a divided house and consists of persons most of whom are illiterate and power-brokers. Interestingly, Agnihotri also belongs to that school of thought in the RSS which wants to compromise the Indian position in J&K and appease the Muslim separatists and communalists. Other members of this dirty think tank include DattateryaHosbole, Ram Madhav and so on, who hailed the otherwise divisive PDP-BJP agenda of alliance as an "agenda of governance". This school of thought in the RSS and BJP considers five million Hindus of Jammu province a problem. However, to say all this is not to suggest that Agnihotri didn't make an important statement on Arunachal Pradesh. Indeed, he was right when he urged everyone not to weaken the Indian stand on this north-eastern state subject to the condition that he really meant what it said. |
