Negligence!

Controller examination passes the buck, says can't do anything

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 8: In yet another instance of Jammu University authorities playing with the careers of the candidates a Post Graduate student couldn't appear in the exams due to the alleged negligence of the Distance Education Department (DDE) and the examination wing of the Jammu University.
A Post Graduate student, according to the sources, was left high and dry on Saturday as she was not allowed to appear in the examination as her name didn't figure in the sitting chart of her centre.
Sources told Early Times the candidate took admission in the Distance Education Department (DDE) in the year 2015 and she took all the Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) but she didn't receive the roll number slip for the examinations. She approached the department and the examination wing and informed her that she had not filled the examination form. "After the parents of the candidate intervened, the authorities found the examination form of the candidate and they allotted her roll number slip and examination centre," sources added.
When the candidate went to Gandhi Nagar College Hall B on Saturday to appear for the examination she was shocked to see that her name didn't figure in the sitting chart of her centre. Following which she was not allowed to sit in the examination.
Later when her parents contacted the controller of the examination telephonically he tried passing the buck saying, "I am out of station and would meet you in my office on Monday."
When the parents asked about the exam in which she was denied entry he told them that he cannot do anything for that exam.
"The negligence of the JU authorities has wasted academic year of the student. Now she would have to prepare for exams afresh as her entire effort has gone in a vain," sources said.
They said, "Apparently it looks like officials have forgotten to enter her name in the list of candidates appearing for the exams. She has missed one paper if the error is not rectified she would miss other papers too due to the lackadaisical attitude of the JU authorities."
