Omar, separatists want to set JK on fire | Sainik Colony Row | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: The former Chief Minister and National Conference working President Omar Abdullah raising hue and cry over reports about government mulling to set up Sainik colonies in Kashmir indicates that after losing power he is leaving no stone unturned to appease the separatists and other pro-Pak elements who too are toeing the same line. Pertinently, Omar on Saturday had launched a scathing attack on PDP led BJP government for planning to set up Sainik colony in Kashmir and termed it as apossible "ruse to settle non-state subjects" in the Valley. Like Omar, all the separatists, including Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Shabir Shah and others opposed the move and threatened that mass agitation would be launched against any such attempt. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Since the day Omar has been ousted out of power he has lost the plot and has been making unnecessary noise. Setting up of Sainik colonies has been a long pending plan of the government and someone needs to ask him how could a settling a few ex-servicemen in the Valley change the demography of Kashmir." He said, "Separatists are opposing these colonies to appease their bosses sitting in Pakistan and across the Line of Control (LoC) but whom Omar wants to appease is a million dollar question." The analyst said, "Government of India and state government should go ahead with its plan to set up the Sainik colonies in Kashmir without bothering about what the warnings and threats of Omar Abdullah, separatists and so called civil society representatives." A Kashmir watcher said, "It's really unfortunate that so called Kashmiri leaders are opposing separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits and ex-servicemen. They are acting as if Kashmir is their fiefdom and no one has any right to settle their. If they are so much concerned about demography and other things they should migrate to Pakistan and leave India once for all." He said, "It seems National Conference led by Omar Abdullah has joined hands with separatists to vitiate the atmosphere in Kashmir by raking up the non-issues. They are waiting for a chance to polarize the situation so that they can call for shutdown and chalos to run their shops which are the verge of closure." A politician said, "We have no nothing to do with separatists as we know that they want to keep the pot boiling and killings, uncertainty provide them with a chance to resort to violence. It's the job of separatists as they are paid for it by Pakistan, but it's really surprising a former Chief Minister, who ruled the JK for six years has joined the bandwagon and is out to vitiate peace." |
