Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 11: The state government is going to a ministerial group to different states in order to address the security concerns of the youth of the state who are either receiving training or education in the various states of the country. This was disclosed by a minister while responding to an issue raised by MLA Beerwah and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah in the legislative assembly today. Omar had expressed apprehensions over the safety of Jammu & Kashmir receiving training in the different parts of the country. "Since yesterday night I have been receiving calls from some of the youth who are receiving training under Udaan with the MBD group that they are being harassed in the state by some people. These youth have also said that the police is not acting in the case and they are facing intimidation since the local administration is sitting over the issue," said Omar. The minister said that the state government would send a ministerial group to the states where the students of Jammu & Kashmir are either studying or receiving education. He said the government is quite alert to this sensitive issue and said that the safety of youth of the state is prime concern for the people at helm. "I have already talked to Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the past regarding the safety of youth of the state. We will send a ministerial group to the states and there they will hold talks with the chief minister of that state and other responsible people. We will not hold back and take steps that would inculcate confidence among the youth of state," said the minister. The MLA Beerwah took a dig at the state government for its failure to commission the Narbal water supply scheme despite the fact that same has been completed. He said during the last District Development Board meeting it was promised that the Narbal water supply scheme would be commissioned within two months but nothing of that sort happened. The legislator said that the people of the area are facing problems and they carried out protests in this regard as well. During the question hour, National Confer-ence's legislator from Eidgah, Mubarak Gul raised the issue of distribution of streetlights in the Srinagar city by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). He said that in his constituency the streetlights were allotted to a defeated candidate and he was not taken into confidence. The MLA alleged that a minister of Srinagar was allotted 100 lights with the legislators getting only 50 lights. He provided a document to the house in order to prove his accusations. |
