Ex-RAW chief Dulat out to please separatists | No to Separate township for KPs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 11: At a time when the entire political class, all the separatist outfits, the entire Kashmiri civil society and bulk of Kashmiri commentators have unleashed a relentless campaign in the Valley to scuttle the idea of even of composite townships for the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus in the Valley, former RAW chief AS Dulat, the so-called Kashmir expert, has also thought it desirable to poke his nose in the affairs of the state to outrage the sensitivities of the already hounded out and persecuted Kashmiri Hindus. On Friday, he opposed tooth and nail the idea of establishing separate townships for Kashmiri Hindus in the Valley while talking to a Kashmir-based daily newspaper. The Kashmiri Hindus and their leaders, including Dr Ajay Chrungoo have been demanding separate homeland in the Valley north East of Jhelum river since December 1991, saying they will not co-exist with those who persecuted them, abused them, tortured them, ridiculed them as fifth columnists and confronted them with a choice between exodus and support to the anti-India movement in the Valley. They have been saying that trifurcation of the state into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh States and creation of separate homeland (Panun Kashmir) in the Valley invested with Union Territory status so that the Indian Constitution flows freely in their homeland and they lead a dignified life as proud Indians. Cautioning the state government over establishing separate townships for Kashmiri Hindus, former RAW chief and BJP's Vajpayee's in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs Amar Singh Dulat said the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir would not witness any betterment by such measures. "Establishing separate townships for Pandits would not be a good idea and would nullify the very concepts of Kashmiriyat," he reportedly said, adding that "there should be composite townships instead of separate colonies for the Pandits". "People from all religions should live together and that is what Kashmiriyat is all about. If Pandits are isolated, they could become soft target for the militant attacks," he further said. Who in India and among the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus AS given Dulat the mandate to reject the very reasonable demand of the Kashmiri Hindus seeking establishment of a separate homeland in the Valley? And who has taught him to believe that Kashmiriyat is tolerant and all-embracing? Doesn't he know that the Kashmiriyat was responsible for the ouster of Hindus from the Valley? Doesn't he know that the entire Kashmiri leadership has opposed even the idea of composite townships in the Valley? Doesn't he also know the negative attitude of Kashmiri separatists and others in the Valley towards Amarnath Yatra and AbhinavGupt Yatra? And, doesn't he know that the fanatics in the Valley have been outraging th4e religious sensitivities of Kashmiri Hindus by calling Hari Parbat as Kohi-e-Maraan, Shankracharya Hill as Takht-e-Suleiman, Anantnag town as Islamabad, to mention only a few? AS Dulat would do well to refrain from interfering in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiri Hindus are the original inhabitants of Kashmir and it is for them to decide when to return, where to return and how to return. |
