Government thwarts Abhinav Gupt Yatra; Beerwah sealed | BJP's anti-Hindu face exposed; separatists run J&K | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 11: The PDP-BJP government on Saturday sealed the Beerwah area in central Kashmir's Budgam district to thwart the proposed Abhinav Gupt Yatra to a cave in the town. Sources said the administration had been directed not to allow entry of any person into Beerwah where the cave is located with yatra purpose. The action came two days after the senior PDP minister and government spokesman declared that no such Yatra would be allowed and if anybody tries to take law into his hands he would be dealt with sternly. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "BJP, which is the part of the government, stands exposed. It failed to do anything to ensure that this Yatra is held. Soon after the government spokesman declared that Abhinav Gupt Yatra won't be allowed a few BJP leaders made some noise and vowed that they would fight tooth and nail to ensure that Yatra is held." He said, "Tall claims of the BJP leaders proved to be a hoax and it has been proved beyond doubt that they have no say in the government and are nothing more than second fiddles. It's PDP which runs the government." The analyst said, "The JK government did not allow Abhinav Gupt Yatra to take place to keep separatists in good books. Just a few days ago the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani had threatened of a stir if Yatra is allowed." "It seems separatists are running the government and PDP is following their diktats," he added. Sources said that a few PDP leaders met the BJP leaders on Friday and made it clear to them that they should not rake up controversial issues as these can lead to stir in Kashmir and could create law and order problem, and would provide separatists with a chance to foment trouble. An observer said, "BJP has proved that it has compromised with its ideology for the sake of power. It has failed to keep up its promise to work towards permanent merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India. One can gauge the helplessness of the BJP from the fact that it has failed to even convince its coalition partner to allow small religious events and Yatras which were held in Kashmir prior to 1947." A BJP leader said, "The government is behaving like agents of separatists. This Yatra like Amarnath Yatra and other such pilgrimage programmes could become source of income to many jobless youth. Abhinav Yatra would have also proved useful in providing jobs to may educated jobless youth desperate to earn livelihood," he said. "I wonder what government is trying to prove by barring the yatra." |
