Govt mulls plan for executing HEP Bhagliar Phase-III | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar June 11: The government of Jammu and Kashmir in response to AQ No. 914 of MLA today stated that the government is mulling to explore the possibility of execution 3rd state of Bhagliar Hydro Electric Project (HEP) and the same is being examined by the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (J&KSPDC). In reply to another question of MLA on delay in execution of Sawalakot Hydroelectric Power Project for which necessary road stretch has been completed and the required land also stands acquired, Under Secretary to Government Power Development Department stated that there is no delay in execution of Sawalakot project added that the capacity of the project was approved by central Electricity Authority is 1856 MW. He further stated that the project is at an advance stage of appraisal with Central Electricity Authority. The government also ruled out the construction of any mini hydel project on Rajgarh Nallah due to insufficient discharge of the water, however it stated that 12 MW HEP has been identified at Bharamudhar-Malwah (Dessa Nallah) which is under survey and investigation. As far execution of 3rd phase of 450 MW Baghliar power project is considered, the previous government put it on hold as initial reports suggested that due to less water discharge in winters, the 3rd phase of the project involved on power house and tunneling works will be feasible for only 3 to 4 months which the previous government feels not viable to invest the money in the said project and instead prefer to execute some other project that will generate power throughout the year. |
