SRINAGAR, June 12: A grenade was hurled by suspected militants to target a security patrol in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, but it failed to explode, police said today. It was later destroyed by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) of Jammu and Kashmir police. Suspected militants hurled a grenade towards the patrolling party of security forces at Handwara main chowk, 80 kms from here late last night, a police officer said. He said the grenade failed to explode and was subsequently destroyed by the BDS. The official said a hunt has been launched to identify and nab the militants involved in the incident. Earlier on June 6, a live grenade was found lying on the roadside at Trehgam area of Kupwara which was later destroyed by the BDS. |
