Early Times Report Poonch, June 11: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi a prominent and an intellectual Gujjar Leader of J&K appealed to the Gujjar and Bakerwal community of J&K to opposed Militancy and fight against Militancy and cooperate with our security forces and worked for promotion of communal harmony and patriotism. According to press release, the Hakla said to pin a strong belief that gun culture is very harmful for the community in particular and country in general and that the militancy would prove harmful for everyone. He said during the Indo-Pak battles Gujjars excelled in bravery and courage as compared to other martial races of the country. In 1965 when intruders indulged in destruction, the credit goes to the Gujjars and Bakerwals who gave the first information of their presence in the valley.There is sizeable population of Gujjars and Bakerwals along the Line of actual Control of both the countries but in each sector viz. Gureze, Titwal, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar Rajouri, Bandi Chechiyan, Chhamb, Jorian and Sialkot Gujjars of this side stood face to face in front of enemy, guided and helped Indian.On 13 August 1965 early morning, a Gujjar of Dhalbarot, Mendhar saw one batch of Pakistani intruders, crossing the Pir Panjal Pass. He immediately informed the civil authorities of the area. Further the report was conveyed to India's security forces. He further said the Gujjar Bakarwal community mostly resides in far-flung hilly mountains area near forest and on the LOC of J&K. The population of gujjar bakerwals in J&K state is 34 lacks. |
