74,867 gun licences issued in J&K in 3 years | 30,872 issued in Kishtwar alone in 2 years | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 14: The government, in written reply to question in the legislative council, has stated that it has issued 74867 gun licenses in state during last three years, which include 45385 issued in the year 2014 and 26094 issued in the year 2015 while this year, it so far has issued 3388 licenses to different persons. As per the government reply, communally sensitive Kishtwar district tops the among the 22 districts of the state with 30872 gun licenses issued in two years. 20,610 gun licenses were issued by district administration, Kishtwar, in 2014 as compared to 10262 in the year 2015. The government said all J&K districts issued only 26094 gun licenses in 2015 which is quite low as compared to 2014 when 45385 licenses were issued in the state. As per the reply, Kulgam issued 4700 licenses in 2014 and not a single one in 2015. Kupwara issued 7900 in 2014 , 4700 in 2015 and 383 in 2016, Ramban issued 6417 in 2014, 1953 in 2015 and only 29 in 2016. Jammu and Srinagar districts have not issued too many licenses and as per the details Jammu had issued 201, 470 & 211 gun licenses in last three years and Srinagar issued only 38, 25 & 4 licenses in three years. Ganderbal and Bandipora have issued one license each in 2015 followed by two in Baramulla, three by Doda and four by Shopian and five by Reasi. Anantnag district has increased its licenses from 476 in 2014 to 2550 in 2015 while no license was issued by DC Anantnag in 2016. Udhampur district has issued 210 licenses in 2014, 564 in 2015 and 132 in 2016. Poonch district has issued 2419 licenses in 2014, 3453 licenses in 2015 and 04 in 2016, Pulwana issued 1584 licenses in 2014, 1488 licenses in 2015 and 1945 in 2016 and Rajouri issued 454 licenses in 2014, 320 licenses in 2015 and 1034 in 2016. In reply to another question of MLC, the government stated that no sale and keep license has been issued by the Home Department during 2014, 2015 & 2016. |
