KP Anganwari workers denied honorarium
6/15/2016 12:39:33 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 14: There is no end to the apathy of the State government towards the displaced Kashmir Pandits leading an exiled life in their own country for last 27 years now as government and the authorities at the helm of affairs leave no opportunity in humiliating and harassing these hapless people.
Quick on the heels of State Government's failure to provide monthly ration to displaced Pandits from the Valley who have not as yet been given the ration of last three months, the Government has started harassing the hapless migrant Anganwari workers numbering around 300.
The apathy of the Government towards these female Anganwari workers and helpers has increased to such an extent that first they were denied honorarium for last three years by the Government without any justification. After approaching every quarter during this period the State Government over two months back decided to release the honorarium of these hapless workers and posted them in various Anaganwari centers in different places of Jammu district.
However 60 workers have been denied the honorarium on the ground that their husbands are drawing the relief from Government which has no justification. Challenging the order these workers who have served the ICDS for about 30 years now said that denying the honorarium to them on the ground that their family was getting the relief from government has no justification. ``We are working in the organization for decades together and government has denied honorarium to us on flimsy grounds which is not acceptable '', said a migrant Anganwari worker on condition of anonymity.
She said some of the workers are highly educated now and they have become over aged also. Instead of promoting them as supervisors though they were deserving the same as they were within the criteria fixed for the same the government is denying even a paltry honorarium of Rs 3000 to them which is injustice, she added.
She said our counterparts in Kashmir have since become supervisors and we have been deprived of all the benefits which is totally unfortunate.
These 60 workers in an appeal to Minister of Social Welfare and Information Technology, Sajjad Gani Lone have sought his immediate intervention in the matter so that they can get justice.
Meanwhile sources said that some senior officers in previous government had hatched entire conspiracy to deprive these hapless workers of honorarium and hence they fed a wrong information to government also despite the fact that the honorarium given to them is directly debited to security related expenses given by GOI to the State.
As these workers were eye sore for some senior officers in the Department so they hatched a conspiracy of depriving them of the benefits of honorarium. Even their cases for promotion to the post of supervisor were not submitted to government which is a sheer case of discrimination and double standards of the officers at the help of affairs in the Department.
These workers have also sought the intervention of the KP leadership in the matter and urged them to take up the issue with government.
