Arun Trisal Early Times Report Kathua, June 14: Tall claims of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) about party being committed to equitable development of all regions are turning out to be a mere rhetoric. A sports stadium in Kathua district in the home constituency of the union minister is crying for development for decades and sans basic requirements. Pertinently, it is not unknown to any bureaucrats of JK that despite organizing annual no. 1 Northzone's Police T 20 Tournament organized by District Police wherein IPL & former cricket players participated, nullified facility is being provided by state government to develop the interest of local youths towards games & sports. Shortage of coaches for decades, ladies toilets, drinking water facilities, leveling of ground , worse sitting arrangement, damage stairs,sub-standards /out dated sports equipments disclose the worse condition of the Sports stadium Kathua. Ghan Shyam Sharma, Chairperson Social Justice Movement, an Kathua based NGO pointed out the worse condition of the sports stadium Kathua wherein hundreds of locals walk everyday, dozens of players playing different games, number of sports events are organised by Youths & sports deptt, locals without any facility provided by state government. It is relevant to mention here that National festivals and famous annual Police martyrs T20 cricket tournament and Sports events are being organised every year without ladies toilets, water facilities, sheds, sitting arrangement etc. Even Former Indian Cricket players Parveen Sharma & Dinesh Mongia suggested to provide facilities in the stadium but nothing has been done till day. Supinder Kour and Robeena Akhtar, local athletes, expressed resentment on shortage of facilities in sports stadium even sanitary/ drinking water facilities. They said small stone pinches in their feet due to unleveling of stadium. Social Justice Movement later on submitted a memorandum to comprising demands for up-gradation of sports stadium Kathua and appealed the ministers and politicians to expedite the up-gradation of sports stadiums Kathua and enhance the morale of local players. |
