| BJP minister's concern for Kashmiri students evokes mixed response | | | Raj Sandeep

Jammu, June 14: The legacy of following appeasement policies by BJP at the centre to keep Kashmiris in good humour constitutes the major reason to adversely reflect upon the security concerns of Kashmiri students in the country.
Following concern shown by NC leader in the Assembly towards harassment to students belonging to valley, BJP's senior minister, who is also Deputy in the state cabinet allayed the apprehension of opposition MLA saying that every minister shall be deputed to states where Kashmiri students are pursuing their studies to instill confidence amongst them. This is very good-will gesture of BJP minister which needs appreciation. But the moot point which requires sincere consideration by the state government, especially BJP ministers and their party in the state as well as at the Centre to find out the root cause responsible for such an alleged harassment and backlash for Kashmiri students , a senior historian said adding that the protagonists of pro-freedom anti Indian groups generating hooliganism in the valley on every pretext are the forced enemies of their own children who are creating hurdles for them to disturb peace of their mind and studies outside the state.
Taking a dig on the BJP ministers for playing role of second fiddle in the govt at the instance of their masters at the Centre, Pran Krishan Raina criticized the loose policy of centre to tighten its hold on the tongue of most of BJP ministers, significantly the one dancing to the tune of all type of Kashmiri leaders to maintain silence on all issues concerning Jammu. He added that on the other hand, minister has been allowed with unbridled powers to shout vociferously to protect the interests of Kashmiri leaders and their voters in and outside Assembly even at the cost of interests of Jammu people and other nationalists, he rued.
Why not such avoidable untoward incidents will take place and create acrimony between peace loving communities if trend of encouraging anti Indian forces in Kashmir and discouraging nationalistic forces is not put on hold by both state and centre governments, said a political expert. He reiterated that biased attitude of authorities to stop and bundle back pilgrims of minority community bound for Abhinav Gupt yatra by the government with BJP as its alliance partner in District Budgam where groups of separatists of majority community were simultaneously permitted to go ahead for organizing anti India seminar by the same government was not a balanced and healthy decision of the government. He added that such like incidents can not go unnoticed by people in the country and repercussions are obvious in other part of the country which the BJP leaders should try to understand by using their wisdom.
What can be the corollary of appeasing anti national groups and antagonising national groups is easily imaginable and it needs to be stopped forthwith atleast for the future generation irrespective of caste, creed, community or region, said a young college student, Kamni Soodan. Mocking at the sympathetic behaviour of BJP minister to vouch for the cause of Kashmiri students allegedly facing harassment outside J&K, she said that it is ridiculous to read the statement of BJP minister to depute ministers to concerned states for infusing confidence in students shunning their onerous responsibility to run the affairs of state. She pointed out that where were these BJP ministers sleeping when outstation students of NIT faced ruthless atrocities at the hands of local police in Kashmir for none of their fault. Why they remained unmoved and again why BJP did not utter a single words to express sympathy with yatries proceeding to pay obeisance to cave of Abhinav Gupt in Kashmir ,she questioned asking that did Jammu people save BJP party falling from grace in elections and caste votes to solely watch the interests of Kashmir and Kashmiri people ignoring their own people of Jammu region.
Snubbing the BJP ministers for vowing before Kashmiri leaders both political and separatists, a BJP worker Kulbhushan Raina said that lust for power has made BJP ministers deaf and dumb to such a level that now their own BJP legislators are revolting and are up in arms voicing their strong resentment against helplessness of ministers to eliminate discrimination still being meted out to Jammu in terms of allocation of funds, stadiums, ignoring tourism development, providing cores to Srinagar based institutions flatly ignoring SMVD University Katra for students welfare. He said adding that if BJP ministers fail to mend their attitude and continue to drag Jammu towards hopelessness sidelining people of this region as is happening, the time is not far off when BJP ministers shall have to face stiff opposition and wrath of their own legislators who are still well wishers of Jammu presently maintaining silence and waiting for an appropriate opportunity to teach lesson to them with their cards keeping close to their chest, he predicted. |
