BJP spokesperson shows 'mirror' to govt of which party is ally | Facts, figures on discrimination with Jammu: Contradictory lines | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 14: BJP's ministers in the coalition government and one of the state spokespersons of the party are toeing contradictory lines in underlining the issue of discrimination with Jammu. The former, Deputy Chief Minister in particular are contending present government is ensuring equitable development of all the three regions where discrimination has no place, the Spokesperson is reflecting it all with data and figures to show that Jammu continues to be on receiving end and not getting its due on all fronts. For the last few days, BJP's state spokesperson Virender Gupta has been issuing statements loaded with facts and figures which suggest that even though BJP is sharing power in the government, not much has changed in Jammu in terms of its fate in comparison to Kashmir which has been gulping major share in all spheres. The BJP spokesperson has picked up the facts and figures from the official sources highlighted in the media and therefore these cannot be untrue or exaggerated. However, sources in the party said even as these are the brazen facts and reflection of the sentiments of the people on account of which the party is losing ground and popularity, this is not being received well at least by a couple of senior ministers of party in the BJP. The ministers are viewing this as contradicting the very existence of BJP in the alliance and bringing more harm than any good to their presence in the government, sources said adding that the ministers are particularly annoyed for the fact that Assembly session is going on at present and such statements with facts about continued discrimination become political fodder for the opposition to whip up the issues in the legislature. Pertinently, the BJP spokesperson has whipped up diverse issues ranging from delimitation of legislative constituencies to discrimination on fund allocation in tourism sector, Jammu district with 11 Assembly constituencies getting funds far less than other districts having just a couple of constituencies, major development projects in limbo in Jammu and many more such issues on development front where Jammu has been on receiving end due to successive unconcerned governments, the present one being no different in addressing the issue seriously. The statements may annoy the ministers but these have come as grim reminder and reflection of truth on the ground. What sounds interesting in the uttering of Prof. Virender Gupta is the how he has cautioned the government and the people representatives, apparently those of the party in trying to show them the mirror that there is great resentment brewing among the people of Jammu province.
