Acute shortage of drinking water sparked protest | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 14: CNS: Acute shortage of drinking water for the last few days at Hamray Pattan triggered massive anti-government demonstrations on Tuesday. Hundreds of people including women took to road and blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway resulting in the disruption of vehicular movement. The angry protesters staged demonstrations against Public Health Engineering department, accusing it of "deliberately snapping" water supply. Police and administrative officials rushed to spot to pacify the protesters. SDM Pattan assured them that regular drinking water will be supplied in the area as a result protesters dispersed peacefully. |
