Assault on couple at Hospital, people hold protest | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 14: Resented over alleged assault on couple in Kaotranka area, the local held protest against hospital staff this morning. Source said Mohd Farooq and his wife went to Community Health Centre (CHC) in the morning with their son reportedly suffering from typhoid. Dr Azaz guided them to conduct a test from hospital laboratory but laboratory assistant namely Fazal Hussain refused to conduct the test and asked them to go to a private clinical laboratory reportedly belong to one of his relatives. "The couple insisted to conduct the test in the hospital laboratory and their repeated requests irritated the Lab Assistant who physically assaulted Mohd Farooq and when his wife tried to intervene she was also trashed by the technician", the sources said. The sources further said that on getting information about the assault, a local journalist rushed to the hospital to enquire the matter, who also faced wrath of the erring technician and other staff members. "Hospital staff and the doctors manhandled me while I was performing my professional duties", Mohd Basharat, a journalist narrated. He later sat on protest against misbehave by the hospital staff and the doctors and was also joined by the locals who later blocked Rajouri-Budhal road raising slogans against the staff and doctors demanding their transfers and action against them. When contacted, Dr Azaz, MO Hospital, said that the couple visited him to the hospital for pregnancy test (PT) and accordingly asked to go to hospital laboratory. "As the facility was not available at present in the hospital laboratory, the couple was 'directed' by the technician to approach a private clinical laboratory and this lead to a verbal duel, whih later turned into physical scuffle between them" the doctor said. On getting information about the protest demonstration by the people against the hospital staff and doctors, Gopal Singh, SDM, Mohd Rafiq, Tehsildar and Ashwani Kumar, officiating SHO, Kotranka Police station rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators. |
