Early Times Report

Jammu, June 22 : Baba Bhair Dev Sthan Trust (BBDST) today urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to increase the area of proposed plan for conservation of Tawi river front from the present place Nagrota to Dev Sthan Baba Bhair.
While addressing a press conference General Secretary of Trust, Ramesh Sharma highlighted the religious significance of the place and said that the agreement signed between JDA & Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Ltd should increase its area of beautification of Tawi river front to Dev Sthan Bhair Dev in view of religious and historical importance of this pilgrim spot.
Sharma said that fact that in spite of lakhs of pilgrims visiting the holy place annually but the development of the place associated only with the then princely icons Dogra Kingdom has not caught the imagination of public representatives of previous regimes and now it calls for due attention.
Sharma urged the elected representatives that this picturesque spot shall be included in the tourist map of Jammu also. Sharma however appreciated the efforts of convener Tawi Bacho Andolan Chander Mohan Sharma for his vigorous efforts and movement to save Tawi River.
Other demands highlighted on the occasion were construction of 2½ kms road from Katal Batal to Dev Sthan, setting of a Picnic Cum Cultural sport in the vicinity and also construction of all weather sheds for pilgrims visiting the Dev Sthan.
Prominent social activist Subash Shastri, Sarpanch Balwant Singh, Girdhari Lal Sharma, Om Parkash and Subash Sharma were also present in this media interaction.
