Now, demand for creation of Israel in Kashmir | Kashmiri Hindus' resolve | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 22. The attitude of the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus towards Kashmiri separatists and powers-that-be in Jammu and Kashmir and at the Centre has, it seems, undergone a radical change. The reason: The senseless opposition in Kashmir to not only to their demand seeking establishment of Centrally-administered separate Homeland but also to the controversial official proposal on setting up colonies in the Valley where 50 per cent Kashmiri Hindus and 50 per cent persons belonging to other faiths will be housed. The Panun Kashmir, the premier organization of the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus, has rejected the official proposal, saying they would accept only that official proposal that matches with their December 1991 "Margdarshan Resolution" and nothing less than that. "Margdarshan Resolution" was adopted in Jammu almost two years after their forced exodus - forced exodus because they had been confronted with a choice between participation in the ongoing anti-India movement and migration. The Kashmiri Hindus exercised the second choice as they were, and are, committed to Indian culture, Indian civilization, in fact, everything Indian. Significantly, the more radicals among the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus have also repudiated the demand made by many of the community members seeking the status of internally-displaced persons (IDPs), saying that "grant of such status will not solve their problem, as there is nothing in any of the Indian statute books that takes care of their needs, aspirations and compulsions and facilitates their return to the Valley the way the community wants". Many Kashmiri Hindus pitched for IDP status on June 20, the international Refugee Day. These radicals have not only opposed the IDP status suggestion, but they have gone several steps further: they have demanded "creation of Israel in Kashmir". "Creation of Israel in Kashmir where Indian Constitution will flow freely alone can end their problem on a permanent basis and defeat Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists and all those who have been saying that establishment of composite colonies or transit camps in the Valley would mean establishment of Israeli settlements in Kashmir". They have been using social networking sites to make their point. The demand seeking creation of Israel in Kashmir as being raised by the radicals among the community only indicates that the patience of the persecuted and hounded community is ending and ending very fast. The Government of India needs to take cognizance of this development and nothing would be more desirable then that it should immediately request the President of India to issue a Presidential Order so that separate homeland for them was established within Kashmir. |
