Power outrage hits Vijaypur hospital | | | Gurdas Kumar Early Times Report Samba, June 22: The falling standard of health care in the state can be gauged from the fact that the solar power system installed at Government Emergency Hospital Vijaypur is lying defunct for the last two weeks which is posing potential danger to patients during emergency cases. Sources told Early Times that the 20 bedded 'Emergency Hospital Vijaypur' mainly caters the accidental cases on highway but the deteriorated power system in the hospital is disrupting its functioning. Given the significance of the Hospital, a solar power system was installed with capacity of 5KV in 2011 expending lakhs of rupees on it but same is lying defunct for the last many days due to some technical snag in the solar power system, they added. "A card in the Solar Power System was encountered with some technical snag and same has been sent to Banglore for its repair but yet not received and the PDD power supply in the hospital is not proper particularly during peak summer due to which doctors and staff are facing huge problem to handle emergency cases," they alleged. Ironically the Solar Power System in the Hospital was inaugurated by the then Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah. The guarantee period of the Solar Power System has expired and now hospital administration is having huge difficulty to get it repaired soon. They further informed that hospital administration generally avoids the use of Diesel Gen Set in the peak time summer due to financial constraint. "There is already liability of Rs 70-80 thousand on hospital on fuel purchase for running gen set as no help is being given by the government to clear the outstanding as a result hospital feels reluctant to use it," they added. Besides, the Hospital is also facing many other problems like non availability X-ray films thereby the patients are forced to go in private shops for getting conducted the X- ray. Hospital is also without anti rabies vaccine which is out of stock for the last many three months. |
