JAMMU, June 22: The Doda youth, who had indulged in a sacrilegious act at a historic and highly revered religious place at Roop Nagar here on June 14 last, has been booked by police under PSA (public safety act).
Yasir Alfaz, son of Kher Din of Shiva in Bhaderwah, Doda, had on June 14 last forced his entry into the religious place and broke the glass protection around the idols. He had also indulged in other sacrilegious acts.
Massive protests had erupted after the incident and the angry people had set ablaze two police vehicles, besides stoning the cops and Janipura police station.
The accused, who was apprehended by the people, was later handed over to police. An ASI was also suspended in the case, they said.
