BJP's 'public darbar' turns into flop show

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 22: BJP's much hyped programme of public darbars at city party office with ministers' presence got punctured deflated when a senior minister chose not to come and hear the public grievances despite his name in the schedule of roaster prepared by the ruling ally.
The minister who was scheduled to come to city office on Tuesday not only disappointed the gathered crowd but let them down as many were hopeful of their individual matters getting heard and solved after hearing by the minister.
Sources said the ministerchose not to come to the Kacchi Chawni office where all was set for his visit in terms of arrangements and arrival of the audience. Sources further said in comparison to other ministers, the minister is a crowd puller which is why many people had come with their general grievances and individual cases to present it before the minister. However, they left disappointed as the minister did not turn up, said the sources, adding that this is for the first time he failed them despite scheduled visit.
Sources further said disappointment for the people was also for the fact that the minister's interaction with the public generally is marked by accompaniment of senior staff of his ministry whom he wants to take note of the problems of people for speedy solution through concerned officials in the administration, no matter his style of working is different than other ministers.
Skipping of his visit to the party office is being linked to the developments during State Executive Committee meeting two days back in which he got infuriated and provoked by his colleague's remarks in which the latter credited himself for all good things happening in his department.
The minister had lamented this in his address at the SWC meeting contending repeatedly in his own style of sarcasm that he doesn't do any work. "I have neither done anything in the previous ministry nor am I doing anything now….why should I do when I am not getting due recognition for my efforts and work…", the minister said at the meeting.
Regular and meticulous in sending the press releases about ministers listening to problems of the people, BJP chose to ignore and play it down. Pertinent to mention is that BJP's roaster of visit of party ministers commenced on June 11 and it will continue till the month end.
