Jammu, June 22 Finally, monsoon arrived in Jammu and Kashmir today, bringing relief to Jammuites from the hot and humid weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said late in the day that the Monsoon has arrived in the state about 10 days ahead of the earlier prediction. The monsoon was expected to arrive on July 1. Following the heavy rainfall in the morning, Jammu recorded 32.8 degree Celsius as maximum temperature while the minimum settled at 20.8 degree Celsius, 5 degree below normal for both maximum and minimum temperatures. The maximum temperature at Batote was 25.3 degree Celsius, 4 degrees below normal, Katra and Bhaderwah recorded 30.3 degree Celsius and 26.5 degree Celsius, respectively, 5 degrees below normal temperature at both places. The Met department said that Jammu recorded 6.9 mm, Batote 8.2 mm, Katra 7.6 mm, Bhaderwah 7.4 mm and Banihal 1.7 mm of rainfall on Tuesday. The weatherman has predicted light to moderate rainfall, thundershowers at few places all over the state including some heavy spells in the plains. |
