126 bovine animals rescued, 5 held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 22: Foiling attempts of smugglers to clandestinely carry bovine animals to slaughter houses in Kashmir, police today rescued 126 of them in different districts of the region. Cops intercepted a truck (JK02AL/5917) at Chanderkote about 8.10 am. It was found loaded with 24 bovine animals. The animals were freed and truck driver Mohammad Tariq, son of Mohammad Ayub of Noshera, was arrested. Another smuggling bid was foiled by a police patrol after cops intercepted some persons at Dhalwas, Chanderkote, while they were carrying 80 bovine animals to the valley. Police sources said while the cops rescued the animals, the smugglers managed to flee. Sources said a police party led by Nazarat Hussain, SHO of Behramgalla police station, rescued a total of 13 animals which were being taken to the valley. Police seized Tata mobile (JK12/2098) and rescued with five bovine animals which were loaded in it. Its driver Zafar Iqbal, son of Abdul Aziz of Bafliaz, was also arrested. From another vehicle, the police party recovered eight bovine animals. Its driver Mohammad Qadir, son of Mohammad Kabir of Sailan, Surankote, and smuggler Abdul Ghani of Thannamandi were also arrested. Nine bovine animals were rescued by police at Arital in Gulabgarh area of Mahore, Reasi. One person was arrested in this connection. He was identified as Ghulam Ali, son of Abdullah of Barmidhar, Mahore. Cases in this connection stand registered at the concerned police stations. |
