Expired' medicines provided at Health Center Salwa, locals file complaint

Poonch, June 23: Within tall claims of better health services to remotest part of state in the state which has got an award for better best rural healthcare, shocking the people of Salwa (Khorbani) block in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch have been put to health hazards with the supply of expired/short expiry medicines provided to the patients at Govt Health Centre Salwa which forced people to file compliant to local police.
Criticizing Chief Medical Officer Poonch and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mendhar for their lackadaisical approach who failed to keep a check on the health centres in district, the people of the area complained the police alleging therein that hospital authorities are providing them the expired medicines at Health Centre Salwa.
Reports from Mendhar said following the complaint of people a police party led by Incharge Police Post led by Incharge police post Ari, SI Sameer Bhat raided the Health Centre Salwa here today.
"The police team lifted the samples of medicines from the health centre which according to sources were expired lot, reports said. "The employees of the health centre including one pharmacist two FMPHWs and one Safai Karamchari were present during the police raid, reports added.
When contacted Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mendhar, Shahid Naeem told Early Times that expiry medicine has been lifted from the aforesaid Health Centre which are now under police custody and an FIR has not been registered yet,.
Meanwhile people of the area alleged that BMO Mendhar Dr Zulfkar Chowdhary has an intention to use his influence to pressurize police for hushing up the matter. Local however warned of serious consequences if authorities fail to register a case and book the culprits under relevant laws.
DDC Poonch MH Malik when contacted over telephone briefly told to Early Times that SDPO Mendhar has been directed to lodge FIR in this case.
