Union Govt under criticism for pro separatist agenda | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 23: Union Government has come under severe criticism for some of its decisions which are fulfilling the separatist agenda in the trouble-torn State of Jammu and Kashmir. The Government's decision to withdraw the army from various strategic points in the State especially Tatoo Ground in Bemina area of Srinagar and University Campus in South Kashmir district of Anantnag has drawn a flake with nationalist forces showing their total dismay over the decision of Modi Government and terming it a suicidal step. Not only the withdrawal of army from the various strategic points in Valley but reported move of Union Government to open Nepal route for return of Kashmiri militants who had gone for arms training to Pakistan is also a cause of concern for the nationalist people in the State. These forces apprehend that with the return of these militants there is every apprehension of their joining anti India tirade in the State after they return with their Pak wives and children who too would have grown up over a period of 20 years now. These forces while questioning the government decision in this regard said that what mechanism it has to check such people and guarantee that they will not be involved in launching an anti India tirade again in the State and thereby increasing threat perception for the nationalist forces in the Valley. The recent call giver by Hurriyat Conference of holding a dialogue with the representatives of Kashmiri Pandits is also thought to be the part of this game plan which might have got the consent of Union Government. Sources said the critics of BJP while opposing the decision of opening Nepal route for the return of Pak trained militants to Kashmir said it was BJP which during the UPA rule had taken a frontal stand against the opening of Nepal route and now it too ahs towed the line of its ally in J&K Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which for keeping its political constituency intact is playing the card for return of Pak militants via Nepal route. Sources said while such a decision may give a political edge to PDP it will harm the BJP's prospects in the State and elsewhere in the country as no nationalist will like withdrawal of army from strategic points from Valley as well as opening of Nepal route for return of militants. Sources said within BJP there is a confusion over these issues and the hardliners believe that the Government should not take such a soft stand just for remaining in power in J&K and it should act on the matters concerning unity and integrity of nation as well as national security. It may be recalled some organizations of Kashmiri Pandits as well as those of Jammu have already voiced their concern over these issues which included Shiv Sena, Ram Sena, Kranti Dal, JKNPP, Panun Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Jagti Migrants Welfare Committee, JTC etc. These organizations have termed the two decisions if implemented will have serious consequences and urged the Government to review the decisions. |
