Six yrs on under construction community center yet to complete 6/23/2016 11:35:19 PM Danish Mohammad Early Times Report Banihal, June 23: Department of local bodies and urban development through Municipal Committee Banihal started the construction of a Community Center in Rallu Mohalla of Banihal in Ramban district some six years back but what to talk of the snail's pace of work the community still is far from reality. Locals lament that the under construction community center is presently has turned to the transit camp for the nomad families who pass through this locality during their transition and also for the local cattle traders who often keep their live stock in this under construction building during the rains. Locals said that the construction work of this community hall was abondoned when the construction reaches to the 'slab' level due to reported non availability of funds and since then the things are just proving from bad to worse for this under construction building. When contacted the Executive Officer (EO) Municipal Committee (MC) Banihal Zubaida Begum briefly said the scheme under which this building was being constructed now has been stopped by the government. She added that MC has taken up the matter with concerned higher authorities of the department in this regard. "It was urged that the construction this community center should be adjusted under new scheme and it shall serve its purpose, she added. It is pertinent to mention that in Banihal town there is no community center or meeting hall for the meetings or for any other functions. Locals have appealed the state government to intervene and demanded the concerned department for the completion of this building as soon as possible so their problems can be solved.
