S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, June 23: Panic today gripped Sopore after militants threw a grenade on a police vehicle near Amargarh area. The grenade, which was thrown at around 4.50 pm on a police Gypsy, exploded with a big bang, creating panic in the area, police sources said. Soon after the attack, huge contingent of police and CRPF reached the spot and launched door to door searches in the area to nab the attackers, the sources added. A senior police officer said there was no damage in the blast that took place near Amargarh police station. A few minutes after this attack, militants carried out another grenade attack on Special Operation Group of police at Model Town in Sopore town. There were, however, no immediate reports of any loss in the blast. |
