Flip-flop over booking accused under PSA unacceptable | Sacrilegious Act Aftermath | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: The flip flop of the state government on first booking the accused under Public Safety Act ( PSA) for committing a sacrilegious act at Roopnagar and then asking for an inquiry could lead to situation taking an ugly turn in the Jammu region. According to the sources, the district administration decided to slap PSA at the accused as per the rules and to prevent situation from going out of hand. The prompt action of the administration led the cooling of tempers in Jammu region, but situation still continues to be volatile in the city of temples, where religious sentiments of the masses have been hurt. The administration charged the accused under the relevant rules. The accused is lunatic or not has to be established by the doctors and not the administration. The things can be decided later in the court. However, even after more than a week of the incident the report of the doctors has not come. The health minister had though assured the people that a board of doctors would examine the accused and would submit the report soon. "The job to examine the accused by the team of the doctors, as promised by the health minister, would not have taken more than an hour. However, the irony is that the report has not come till date. It suggests that even the BJP, which claims to be representative of the Jammu region, is not serious and it's deliberately allowing this to go out of hand," said a senior official, who is privy to the developments. The sources said there is also a possibility that the report was deliberately not submitted on the directions of the senior BJP leader who is stationed in New Delhi. "There is a possibility that the senior leader in the central leadership of the BJP high command could have played the pivotal role in delaying the report. The same leader has come under attack from the party leadership for working towards safeguarding the interests of the Kashmir based parties than for the Jammu region or the party. Possibility can't be ruled out that he has directed the health minister to not make the report public, which could have been prepared in less than an hour," said a senior BJP leader. On the other hand, sources said that Sangh Parivar has asked BJP not to take the issue casually and but ensure that stringent action is taken against the elements, who wanted to create trouble for the coalition government. |
