Early Times Report JAMMU, June 23: Thirteen bovine animals, which were smuggled to the valley via Thanamandi-Mughal Road, were Wednesday night rescued by Rajouri police. As part of their special drive against the menace of bovine smuggling, cops led by Rajouri police station SHO, Inspector Chaman Gorkha last night laid nakas at Salani Bridge, Kheora, and workshop bridge, Rajouri, police sources said. One such naka party intercepted three Tata Mobiles (4962/JK11A, 2575/JK11B and 0370/JK11A). While their drivers and other occupants fled under the cover of darkness, 13 bovine animals were rescued by the cops. The vehicles were also seized. A case in this connection was registered at Rajouri police station under section 188 of RPC and 3 of PCA. In their intensified drive, Rajouri police this year have so far registered 112 cases of bovine smuggling against 153 smugglers, besides rescuing 582 bovine animals and seizing 84 vehicles.
