JAMMU, June 23: Making it a 67 runs win against Vijayanta Club, hosts Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing 8th Pawan Memorial Cricket (Twenty20) Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here. Earlier, sailing on superb performance from Rakesh Kumar, who made 26-ball 63 runs, Singh Club set a challenging total of 198 runs for seven wickets after the side won the toss and elected to bat. Later, Sham Singh claimed four wickets to restrict opponent to 131runs. Chandan Sharma (37 off 22 balls) and Sonu (35 off 33 balls) as also Sny (14 off eight deliveries) remained other main contributors to the total. From Vijayanta Club, Amit Singh claimed two wickets while Pankaj and Jagdish shared apiece each. Batting second, Vijayanta Club could make 131 runs when whole side bowled out for 131in 15.2 overs. Amit (28), Govil (26 off 8 balls) and Chander Kiran (17) were the batsmen, who scored in double figure. From Singh Club, Sham Singh Langeh claimed four wickets while Sahil bagged three. Sunil, Sourav and Chandan took apiece each. Later, Rakesh Kumar and Sham Singh Langeh jointly shared the man of the match award. The AYC leaders, Ankush Sharma, Naresh Dutt and Aman Gupta were special guests in today's quarterfinal which was officiated by Joginder Magotra and Vikas Bali as umpires while Ashu was scorer. |
