Rain water creates havoc at Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, July 1: As torrential rains hit many parts of Kishtwar last night, muddy waters entered several houses, damaging household items. The people of Ward No 13 were also allegedly facing a lot of problems due to an under construction road which was in same condition for the last over 20 years. The people living in the area informed that the road had become a cause of nuisance for them, especially during rains. According to one Arshad Hussain Naik, the under construction road outside his residence had become a matter of concern for him and other people using on it. He said that he had given away his land for construction on two sides of his plot for which the department was even yet to pay compensation to him. The contractor had dumped the material haphazardly and in the middle of the road which had become a headache for the school going children and others. He said that the road lacked proper drainage and further said that due to overnight rains, the dirty and muddy water entered into his home and underground water tank. He said that it was a known fact that Kishtwar was reeling under acute water crises and added that all the water saved by them in last few months had become useless due to entering of muddy and rain water into the tank and thus made it non use-able. He urged upon the senior officials of the department to look into the matter and prevent them from day to day miseries which people suffered due to this road. |
