Early Times Report Srinagar, July 1: Alleging that members of the Sikh community were being ignored in state and central government jobs, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) said out of 4000 recruitments I police, only two were from the community who were earlier Special police Officers (SPOs). Members of the Sikh community were getting their due share in state and central government jobs until 1990 when things started going worse for the community, APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said in a statement here this afternoon. However, he said, until the Sikh are considered minority in the Jammu and Kashmir, where central minority commission has not been extended, such injustice with the community (Sikh) will continue. He said recently 4000 recruitments were made in police departments and two were from the Sikh community who too had served as SPOs. He alleged that many members of the community had qualified but their names were missing in the final list. He said one Manmeet Singh had cleared all tests but was not selected in the final list. Raina said that he will take up matter with high-ups including the Chief Minister of the State, Mehbooba Mufti, However, he urged the Sikh community of J&K to get united for a fight for justice as community has been left with no option but to hit the roads. Raina also said that main reason of ignoring Sikhs of Valley is that they have no political representative in Assembly who can put forward the problems and hiccups faced by them. |
