Inadequate ration supply during Ramzan triggers resentment in Bani | | | Arun Trisal Early Times Report Bani, July 1: Irregular and insufficient supply of PDS ration even during Ramzan, today triggered resentment among large number of people hailing from Bani, the mountainous tehsil of Kathua district. Locals were up in arms seeking ration supply especially for sugar from last few months but everyone in administration especially in CAPD gave deaf ear to their demand. After walking several miles through the forest, people reach CAPD ration depot at Bani town only to be told that there was no sugar available. Jaswant Singh, a senior citizen, accused CAPD officials of black-marketing of the PDS ration and its sale to local shopkeepers. He said few officials have been working here for last 20 to 25 years and being familiar to illegal trade of PDS ration, they sell large chunk of ration to them thus making illegal money and leaving poor ration card holders to suffer. Nissar Ahmad, a youth complained that sugar was not made available during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, which speaks volumes of the incompetence of the CAPD deptt. Shivdev Singh, a local hailing from Rolka , said entire area was fed up to the Mal-functioning of the department as most people depended on CAPD supply that could not be regularized by the government during last few months. The angry people said government ensure adequate supplies during Ramzan but irregularity in ration supply had exposed the real face of state government that claims for development and facilities in entire state including tehsil Bani. When contacted, TSO CAPD Bani Ved Parkash accepted the failures in the part of the government and said, "the state government is responsible for shortage of CAPD ration supply especially sugar during Ramzan Month." He expressed inability to provide apposite ration supply during Ramzan month. |
