Three tier Academic Monitoring Committees to revisit education | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, July 13: After poor performance by the students of government schools in 12th and 10th class results for the last many successive years, District Education Department headed by Ch.Altaf Hussain, Chief Education Officer (CEO), has taken several measures to improve the academic standard in government schools. Department has constituted three tier Academic Monitoring Committees (AMCs) which will report to the District Monitoring Cell (DMC) headed by Chief Education Officer (CEO) and will be assisted by two HoDs from DIET. DMC will analyze the reports, proposed actions/ appreciations submitted by AMCs .Under this arrangement Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) have been made bound to visit at least four schools in a week while Zonal Resource Persons(ZRPs) and Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) directed to visit at least four schools in a week to provide academic support. Department has also mobilized Village Education Committees (VECs) about their duties and responsibilities pertaining to schools and Cluster Heads (principals) have been directed to conduct review meeting with head of the institution once in a month. "To increase the enrollment in the government schools, 50 well furnished rooms with required facilities have been established for pre-primary classes. For popularizing and strengthening of basics and reading/writing of Mathematics and Science one person in each cluster has been trained as Master-Trainer" said a senior officer of education department. He added as per survey conducted more than 80% students have not achieved minimum level of learning and it has been decided to spend first two months of the session for preparing the students of elementary level for reading/writing. Ch Altaf Hussain, CEO informed that 270 ZRPs/Masters & Teachers have been trained as Master Trainers at district level for the identification of Child With Special Needs (CWSN) and parental counseling. "The department has proposed to construct a hostel for the CWSNs at Rajouri so that these children may be sent to school for their secured future" said CEO. He added on our request Rotary International has agreed to provide e-learning facilities (equipments) to 40 high schools while UNICEF has agreed to provide training to teachers and TLM kits for 20 schools. "Many school don't have electricity facilities and students can't be linked for e-learning. So on the request of the department J&K Bank has agreed to provide 1-Kilo watt-24 volt Solar Power plant (each costing Rs1,03,000) to 50 schools" said CEO. |
