Ration scarcity in Bhaderwah | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, July 21: Residents of Bhaderwah town have been facing acute shortage of ration for the past three weeks. People of several areas told that most of the times, they return empty-handed from the ration depots as, according to CAPD officials, there is an acute shortage of ration in the town. "We have no choice but to purchase ration especially Atta from the open market. We appeal the Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), to make the ration available at the earliest," they said. They said that several attempts were made by the locals to the CAPD officials to personally monitor the supply of the ration but they did not take their requests seriously. They said they have not been provided the ration for the last 25 days of the month as majority of the government depots in the town are empty. "We have been suffering in want of Atta and Sugar. We used to visit the CAPD stores every day but all in vain", said Tabusum, a housewife. Another resident of Kotli village of Bhaderwah Gulam Nabi Mughal alleged that black-marketing of ration especially Atta is going unabated in the town and villages but all government officials are tight lipped over this pilfering of ration under PDS. The locals appealed the DDC and CAPD officials concerned to immediately take action against the erring officials and asked for availing 24-hour supply of ration in Bhaderwah town. |
