Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 21: Normal life continues to remain paralyzed across Kashmir valley due to the enforcement of curfew, restrictions and strike call given by the separatists. In the meantime, the situation by and large remained peaceful in the valley with no major untoward incident being reported from anywhere. Reports said that for the 12th consecutive day normal life got crippled due to the imposition of curfew and strike in the Kashmir valley. Curfew remained in place in six out of the 10 districts of the Kashmir valley. The authorities however lifted the curfew from the other four districts in the valley. Strict curfew was put in place in Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Kupwara districts. Police and security forces imposed stringent security measures in the curfew bound areas in the afternoon in order to thwart the relaxation given by the separatists in their protest calendar. Separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik had asked the people to come out after 2 PM and carry out purchases since they have extended the shutdown call up to July 25. However, the same was foiled by the police and security forces personnel. The forces personnel asked the people to remain indoors saying that no relaxation has been given in the curfew imposed on July 9. At the same time the authorities lifted the curfew from Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, and Bandipora districts. The curfew was lifted in order to facilitate the reopening of government and private schools in their districts. However, the move backfired as majority of the schools remained closed with the staff also not able to reach their places of posting. A police spokesman said that the situation throughout the Kashmir valley remained peaceful and under control, today. The spokesman said that there were no reports of any untoward incident from anywhere in the valley although a couple of stray stone pelting incidents were reported from Nowpora-Sopore and Karan Nagar-Srinagar. Kashmir valley has been on edge since the evening of July 8 after Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed along with his two associates in a brief encounter with police and security forces at Bemdoora-Kokernag in Anantnag district. The clashes that erupted after the killing of Burhan led to death of 48 persons including two police personnel. Mobile internet services and the rail service continue to be suspended ever since the valley was rocked by protests. Meanwhile, after remaining suspended for five days the newspapers hit the stands today in Srinagar. The newspaper editors had suspended their publication after the Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel on the directions of the administration raided some of the printing presses in the Rangreth area and sealed them.
