| Years on, two key posts of DYSSO still vacant | | Sports no priority! | |

Jammu, July 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports faces utter neglect, as the two key posts of District Youth Services and Sports Officers of Rajouri and Poonch is lying vacant for years.
Moreover, the officers have been transferred by government in February, 2016 but same has failed to send their substitute here.
Sources in department informed Early Times that government directs department to promote sports activities among the student and non student youth but how it is possible without manpower.
The role of district sports officer in a district, drawing and disbursing officer of their district, responsible for keen implementation of all departmental schemes constituted for the development of sports but without DYSSO is it done in twin border districts Rajouri and Poonch.
Sources further said that at the end of the year total achievements of the district in various Sports and Games along with the receipt and expenditure of the distinct, DYSSO send to the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports for incorporation of activities and achievements for compilation of the state account of sports and games but in both district how it is possible without officers, as the posts of DYSSO are lying vacant for years.
Under the guidance of DYSSO, different kinds of competitions are to be conducted for scouting of Sports Talents within the district and it was the duty of DYSSO to brief reports are made correctly and send in time to the Directorate office.
Couple of months back, government had received some complaints regarding over stay and attachment of Physical Education Masters/ Teachers in the district youth Services and sports office, Rajouri. In the meantime, the director General Youth services and sports has been asked to detach the physical Education Masters/Teachers attached in the office of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Rajouri.
And also issued transfer order of In-charge DYSSO Rajouri whose actually posting was in District Poonch without any replacement due to which both districts Sports department are headless and the charge was given to DYSSO Jammu.
Repeated calls by this Jurno to Director General Youth Services and Sports (J&K) Jehangir Mir, he didn't respond the phone calls. |
