Early Times Report

Jammu, July 21: Disclosure of Early Times on proposed secret meeting of the dissidents in State Congress on July 22, has forced the group to postpone the scheduled meet.
According to reliable sources in the Congress, the dissident faction unanimously decided to postpone their July 22 meeting and hold the same on some other day to keep the event secret. To ensure that the information on holding the meeting may not leaked again in the media, the dissidents have decided not to announce the fresh date, sources added.
All the dissidents will be informed about the fresh date telephonically on the same day of holding the meeting thus ensuring that information is not leaked out to the media prior to the event, sources elaborated and added that all the members of dissident faction have expressed their consent over this formula to keep their activities secret till some success is achieved.
Pertinent to mention that the dissident faction had earlier decided to hold the crucial meeting on July 22 for chalking out strategy to press the PCC president G A Mir for getting their members included in the Pradesh Congress Committee and adjusted in the District as well as Block Congress Committees.
However, sources said, leakage of this information in Early Times sounded the PCC president and his supporters, who brought the matter into the notice of high command, including AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs, Ambika Soni, who visited Kashmir last week.
Even as Ambika Soni did not discuss the issue with the dissident group, sources said that the latter decided to defer their scheduled meeting of July 22 to avoid any controversy, which could have strengthened the incumbent PCC president before the high command.
However, at the same time, a senior member of the dissident group made it clear that there was no question of putting a brake on their activities, which would continue till logical conclusion of their efforts for restoring democracy in the party.
