Early Times Report
jammu, July 21: There seems no immediate respite for mobile users as the state government is primarily focusing on and using all its state machinery to maintain law and order situation, while other issyes are not on its priority list.
The mobile internet services in Jammu and Kashmir were snapped following the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani on July 10 in Kashmir valley and there were reports that after All Party meeting of Thursday called by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the divisional administration of Jammu would take a decision but there is no possibility of restoring the services.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal informed Early Times that a review meeting would be taken on Saturday in Jammu in which all the issues related to law and order situation in Jammu would be discussed.
On being asked if there is any possibility of restoration of services soon in Jammu region, Dr. Kotwal said that restoration of mobile internet services was not any priority of the government. "Maintaining law and order situation is our foremost priority and not the resumption of mobile internet services", he said.
Elaborating further Divisional Commissioner Jammu said that curbing the spread of rumors was crucial priority of state government. "Some vested interest people are hell bent to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere by spreading rumors. Any untoward incident can be blown out of proportion by the vested interests people to further their political interests", he said.
The snapping of mobile internet services in Jammu though have no relation with ongoing Amarnath yatra but the volatile situation in Kashmir valley will definitely be the deciding factor in restoration of mobile internet services.
Dr. Kotwal denied any such relation between Amarnath Yatra and ban on internet in Jammu but said that overall situation of Kashmir valley would decide about the internet ban in Jammu.
