| Cleric nomination row: Counter FIR lodged against 29 persons in Mustafa Nagar clash | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, July 21: POlice have registered an FIR against 29 persons following a local court directed police to lodge counter FIR in the clash reported between two groups on the issue of nomination of Imam (cleric) in a mosque in Mustafa Nagar on July 8, 2016 sources said here today.
"Taking the cognizance of court directions a FIR stands registered vide no. 110 against 29 people including the Lambardar Gohlad under various sections at police station Mendhar, sources said.
Pertinent to mention here that two groups clashed with each other at Jamia Masid Mustafa Nagar while one group was demanding the Nimaz (Prayers) will be performed by the Imam (priest) of their group while as other were in favous of a local priest.
Sources said that an FIR already stands registered against 27 people but till date no arrest have been made in this regard but as the other group also has sought directions from court which directed police to lodge a counter FIR in the case and to start investigations.
Confirming the registration of counter FIR, Sub Division Police officer (SDPO) Mendhar Shahid Naeem told Early Times that a counter FIR has been lodged against 29 persons including lambar dar of Gohlad and further investigations in the case are on, He added some arrests shall be made soon. |
