Strengthen security grid in J&K, not weaken it: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 21: Jammu for India (JFI) expresses utter shock and dismay over the fact that the ruling BJP did not utter a single word of sympathy for the security forces deployed in Kashmir and facing a rebellious situation on the first day of the ongoing session of the Parliament. Approximately 1500 security personnel have been injured in the valley, some of them very seriously, during the post Burhan unrest in Kashmir, said convener of JFI, Prof Hari Om while addressing press conference at Press Club Jammu on Thursday. He added these forces had to control a seditious situation which the Government of India has described as being sponsored and abetted by Pakistan while the political leadership at the helms remained confused, conniving and constrained not to act, is a testimony of their commitment as well as capability. It is a shame that leaders at the helms in the Government of India have insulated themselves from this reality and have been overwhelmed by the alienation rant only, said Prof Hari Om. JFI expressed it outrage about the fact that there was nobody in the ruling party in New Delhi to express their condemnation of the genocidal attacks on Hindus living in Kashmir during the present turmoil, hundreds of whom have run away from there and sought refuge in Jammu. BJP government in New Delhi has chosen to ignore, distort and lie about the assault on the Kashmiri Hindus, the same way as the Congress did when they were thrown out of Kashmir in 1989-90, Prof Hari Om said, adding that "the failure of BJP is more monumental as it had to provide security to just a few thousand Hindus most of whom were living in transition camps". "It is also condemnable that the ruling BJP did not inform the Parliament about the attacks on the Hindu Pilgrims to Holy Amaranth cave that have taken place during the seditious protests in the valley. That many pilgrims had to suffer brazen communal harassment and humiliation and had to run away constitute facts which the government seeks to hide from the people of India," further said the JFI convener. The JFI condemns the insensitivity and apathy of the governments in the state and the Centre demonstrated towards, nationalists in general and Hindus in particular. "We have also no hesitation in saying that government has pursued a policy of abdication in Jammu and Kashmir since it came to power in New Delhi as well as Jammu and Kashmir. This attitude has brought the situation in the state to a dangerous pass threatening the integrity of the nation," said Prof Hari Om. The PDP-BJP government has failed at all fronts in the state, asserted the JFI convener, adding that it has allowed the state to become a separatist volcano. The JFI also appealed to the Prime Minister to realize the gravity of the situation, dismiss the present government in the state and impose Governor's rule forthwith. "The imposition of Governor's rule in the state has become absolutely imperative," said Prof Hari Om, adding that the collapse of the PDP-BJP government would please the people of Jammu and Kashmir as these parties had formed an unholy alliance after subverting their respective mandate and also help restore peace in the state. Others present in the press conference included Dheeraj Pargal, organizing secretary, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Adv Pushpinder Singh, Ajaat Shatru Singh, Rajesh Dutta, Ashok Kumar. |
